ABACAVIR (Ziagen(R)) is an antiviral drug used for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in combination with other medication. Abacavir belongs to a class of anti-HIV medicines called nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Abacavir may help delay the symptoms of advanced HIV infection. It will not cure or prevent HIV infection or AIDS. Generic Abacavir tablets are available.
